Rotary Airlock Valve

Able Engineering is a leading manufacturer of the Rotary Airlock Valve, also called Rotary FeedersRotary Valves, or just Rotary Airlocks. This Rotary Airlock Valve is to regulate the flow from one chamber to another while maintaining a good airlock condition in both pressure style and vacuum style pneumatic conveying systems. Airlocks are also useful in regulating the flow of products into a pressure or vacuum conveying line while minimising air leakage. These valves serve as a “lock” to prevent air loss while simultaneously performing vital material handling functions.

In dust collection systems, it allows continuous discharge of the product without having to turn off the vacuum to dump the accumulated material. These valves are vital in pneumatic conveying systems, allowing the introduction of material into a pressure or vacuum stream with minimal loss of air.

Design & Construction

These valves have a heavy-duty cast housing that consists of a body and two end covers, an internal rotating rotor, and a drive package. To allow the material to enter and exit the valve it has an inlet and outlet on the body.  The rotor has a shaft with multiple vanes, and the ends of the shaft extend out through the housing to external bearings supported by the end covers.

Functions of Rotary Airlock Valve:-

  • Feed process materials into pneumatic conveying applications.
  • Minimum air loss while transferring material between vessels with differing pressures.
  • It regulates the flow of material from one chamber to another.
  • Measure the metering of process materials in loading and unloading applications.
