Overview

Built around your process.

A Falling Film Evaporator is an industrial heat exchanger used for concentrating solutions, particularly those containing heat-sensitive components. It operates by allowing a liquid film to flow downward through vertical tubes or plates under the influence of gravity, while condensing steam transfers heat through the heating surface.

Falling Film Evaporators are suitable for separating volatile and non-volatile components, especially when the feed has low viscosity and a low tendency for fouling. Industries use them for applications such as yeast extract concentration, gelatin manufacturing, and tea and coffee extract processing.

Able Engineers Private Limited, also known as Able Engineering, manufactures Falling Film Evaporators for Herbal Extraction Plants and Phytochemical Plants. Our evaporators use vacuum operation and short product residence time to process heat-sensitive materials while helping preserve their organoleptic properties and minimize unwanted secondary reactions.

Working Principle of Falling Film Evaporator

The process begins when the feed enters the evaporator through a specially designed liquid distribution system. This distributor spreads the liquid uniformly across the tubes or plates.

Next, the liquid flows downward as a continuous thin film along the vertical heating surface under gravity. Meanwhile, condensing steam transfers heat through the tube or plate walls, causing the volatile components to evaporate.

Furthermore, vacuum operation lowers the boiling temperature of the product, making the evaporator suitable for heat-sensitive materials. The vapour and concentrated liquid then move towards their respective outlets for further processing or collection.
